About Stephen Peacock

Hi, my name is Stephen Peacock.

I am an award wining photographer from the North West of England, too close to the City of Manchester.

Photography

I developed my interest in Photography in the late 1970's.

All of my work at this time was using 35mm film, mainly monochrome which I developed and printed myself.

For a number of years I attending an evening photography course at Preston Polytechnic, where I made use of their extensive darkroom facilities.

In January 1980 I emigrated to Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Rock Journalism

My early work was in the field of Rock journalism, making submissions to publications NME, Face and other rock/style publications.

I photographed many artists and groups around the North of England, including 'Sting', 'Leno Lovitz', 'Echo and the Bunnymen', 'Ian Dury and the Blockheads' to name a few.

On many occasions I would bump into Kevin Cummins, who was one of my main influences in the field of Rock Journalism.

1984

In 1984 the music scene had 'died a death' and following an unfortunate incident with a local band from Bradford, I decided to retire from the field of Rock Journalism, and concentrate on my career in Information Technology.

Digital Photography

My interest in photography was re-kindled following an incident packed Skiing vacation to Sauze D'oulx Italy in January 2000.

At this time the realm of digital photography opened new possibilities for photographers.

I purchased a Nikon D100, one of the first semi professional digital cameras.

The Nikon D100 is still going strong, unfortunately my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8D lens is not, it was stolen in Italy.

In 2014 I purchased a Nikon CoolPix P7700 compact camera which is less conspicuous, and ideal for holiday snaps.

Now most of my work is using digital media covering a wide range of genre, including Events, Glamour, Lifestyle, Reportage, Portraiture, Scape, Studio and Travel photography.

Travel

Stephen Peacock has traveled extensively, with lots of experience in finding those far away places, so he can guarantee he will get to the shoot on time.
